Worlds Biggest Earthworm

The giant Gippsland earthworm (Megascolides australis) is the largest earthworm species on the earth. The average length is 3.3 feet long and they can reach up to 9.8 feet in length. Like most earthworms, they have the ability to expand and contract their bodies.

The giant worms live along stream banks in Victoria, Australia. These worms are rare and are classified as a "threatened species" because of the effects of farming, and their low reproductive rate and it takes up to five years to mature and reproduce.
